| Lucknow, Aug 21: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Murli Manohar Joshi today blamed the Congress-led central government for the worsening situation in Kashmir and said the problem was not linked to economic or developmental issues.
"The Kashmir problem is a complex one. On the one hand, there are terrorists and, on the other, there are separatists who are desperately conspiring against the country. But the central government has totally failed to tackle the problems. As a result, the situation there is worsening day by day," Joshi told reporters here.
"Slogans like 'Indians, quit Kashmir' that are being raised there clearly suggest that the problem there does not lie on economic or developmental fronts... It's all a part of the conspiracy to separate Kashmir from India," he added.
Joshi blamed Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for the turmoil in the valley.
"Apart from the non-sincere efforts of the United Progressive Alliance government to deal with the issue, the chief minister is also not able to tackle the situation... He (Abdullah) has no experience and, therefore, is not sure what should be done or not done to control the situation," said Joshi.
The senior BJP leader alleged that the central government was tolerant towards Pakistan despite the problems it was creating in Kashmir.
"We should make it very clear to Pakistan that we would not compromise on the Kashmir issue in any case," said Joshi.(IANS) |
