In 80 days, J&K encounters a loss of Rs 21,000 crore

Srinagar, Sep 1: Regular curfews and shutdowns in Jammu and Kashmir that has been continuing for over 2 months have shed a disastrous effect in the lives of all the residents of the state. Trade and business in the state have endured a major setback. Reports state that Jammu and Kashmir has suffered a loss of around Rs 21,000 crore due to the frequent shutdowns summoned by separatists and the curfews imposed by the security forces. Handicrafts, textiles and all other kinds of industries have been severely affected.

Many new companies and industries were forced to suspend their operations due to the shutdowns and curfews. Several small businesses have closed down. Many staffs and workers were downsized from factories and companies due to month long protests.

Hotels and tourism industry are among the worst affected. This has also deteriorated the economy of the state, causing a grave concern for many.
