Ranchi, July 30: Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) sleuths today raided offices of three coal traders here on the suspicion of profiteering by selling coal at higher rates in the open market.

According to the CBI sources, the raids were conducted simultaneously at six offices of three coal traders - Vijay Dhanuka, Rakesh Kejriwal and Gyanendra Kumar Singh.

"We have recovered large number of incriminating evidence in the form of documents. Some laptops were also seized from the offices of the coal traders," said a CBI source.

"The traders used to buy coal from a company at Rs.1,200 per tonne and used to sell it in the open market at Rs.2,400 per tonne," he added.

According to sources, further raids could be conducted in the near future to unearth the links between coal company officials and coal traders. (IANS)
