|New Delhi, Oct 13: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today indicated that her government will leave no stone unturned in implementing foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail here.
She also called the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) "anti-traders" for opposing the FDI in retail.
"The people who are opposing the FDI are not keen to take forward the country and its people. By opposing the FDI, in fact, they are in favour of continuation of large scale wastage of agricultural products and other consumer items," Dikshit said in a meeting with members from All India Federation of Traders Associations at her residence.
The traders had gathered to express gratitude towards Dikshit who has decided to implement the introduction of retail FDI in the city.
"All countries in the world are marching ahead by adopting modernization whereas the major opposition party is dead against the modernisation. This party is not able to digest the new opportunities for the traders. Hence, it is anti-traders," said Dikshit.
Dikshit had announced that her government would make amendments to the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) Act for easing certain norms which will allow retailers to directly purchase the farmers' produce.(IANS)
