New Delhi: The Book Fair is always regarded as a unique platform for the authors, intellectuals and artists, across the borders to bring forth their views and opinions. It gives book-lovers, of all age groups, an opportunity to select books on their favourite subjects. At the 14th Delhi Book Fair which started on August 30 and will continue till September 7, one would not only find the usual books and materials but fun games and 'Talking books' as well.
The Talking Books are basically in the form of audio cds that play the chapters of the entire book. You can get these talking books from the stall of Star Publications. It offers a wide-range list of books from Hindi and Punjabi novels to even Urdu novels. The Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP) has also invited stalls from Abu Dhabi, American Embassy, Pakistan and from three more countries.
Except the stall of Pakistan, the other two stalls are not here to sell books. As in, the Abu Dhabi pavilion is here to promote the fair to be held in the year 2009. While, American Embassy is here to provide their library membership and to promote foreign studies. Manisha, the FIP media conductor said, "This is for the first time that international stalls have been put up." She further said, "We have invited these foreign stalls to add something new to the book fair. We have also organized regular seminars related to the fair." She winded up by saying that there has been an increment in the rate of readers in the last one year. |
