New Delhi: The Press Club of India has come up with one of its kind of photo-exhibition named 'Inside The Colony'. The exhibition exhibits 20 photographs of eminent photo journalist Vijay Kranti. The photo-exhibition is his 'reality check' on China's claim about Tibet, that Tibet is progressing.
These photographs are the fruit of his two photo expeditions to Tibet, which he took as a tourist in the recent years. His first expedition was around Lhasa and the second trip was in Yunnan, Sichuan, Quighai and TAR provinces.
"There is no doubt that urban parts of Tibetan region have undergone tremendous modernization. Wonderful malls, wide roads, impressive housing complexes, and most lavish car brands in the streets. Only if you could distinguish between a Chinese and a Tibetan face that you would realize who own these goodies and for whose benefit all this benefit has been undertaken" said Vijay Kranti.
Tempa Tsering, Representative of His Holiness Dalai Lama said," Chinese government say that there is progress in China, but the photographs show at the cost of what the development is.It is at the cost of Tibetan culture". According to another viewer," The best thing about these photographs, what I liked, is that they could bring out the truth from midst of all the developmental works there".
Vijay Kranti observed the condition for 30 years. So, when China opened the door, he went there as a visitor, as there is a complete ban on the independent travel of the journalists. The exhibition will continue from 11th - 20th August 2008 at the Press Club of India. |
